Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Air India, has been appointed as the Director of the Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) in New Delhi for a three-year term.

Ashwani Lohani, a distinguished railway engineer and former Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Air India, has been appointed as the Director of the Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) in New Delhi for a three-year term. The appointment was made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi .

Lohani, 67, is renowned for his transformative leadership across various sectors, including Indian Railways, civil aviation, and tourism. Notably, he revived the world’s oldest operational steam locomotive, the Fairy Queen, for service between Delhi and Alwar . He holds four engineering degrees and has been recognized in the Limca Book of Records for this achievement .

The PMML, formerly known as the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, is situated within the historic Teen Murti Bhavan complex in New Delhi. It serves as a repository of India’s political history, housing extensive archives and exhibits related to the nation’s Prime Ministers . Lohani’s appointment is expected to enhance the institution’s role in preserving and promoting India’s democratic heritage.
