PV Sindhu Exits China Masters After Eighth Straight Loss to An Se Young

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu’s campaign at the China Masters Super 750 came to an early end as she suffered a straight-game defeat to South Korea’s An Se Young on Thursday.

The two-time Olympic medalist struggled to find answers against the reigning world champion, going down in yet another one-sided contest. The loss marked Sindhu’s eighth consecutive defeat to An Se Young, a player against whom she has not managed to secure a single victory so far in her career.

Sindhu had entered the tournament looking to gain momentum after a mixed run in recent competitions. However, An once again proved too strong, showcasing her speed, sharp shot placement, and exceptional defense that left the Indian ace chasing the game from the start.

With this result, Sindhu exits the China Masters Super 750 at the pre-quarterfinal stage, extending her winless run against the Korean star.

The defeat also highlights the challenge Sindhu continues to face against top-ranked opponents, particularly An Se Young, who has emerged as one of the most dominant figures in women’s badminton.

Looking ahead, Sindhu will aim to regroup and focus on upcoming tournaments as she continues her preparations for the 2026 season and major international events.
