Sunil Narine is all set to make a comeback for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after missing their previous IPL 2025 match due to illness. He’s returned to training and is expected to be available for selection for their next game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday evening at the Wankhede Stadium ¹.
It’s worth noting that Narine’s inclusion in the playing XI will likely impact the team’s strategy, given his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. His return will also be a key factor in KKR’s bid to maintain their winning momentum after defeating Rajasthan Royals in their last encounter .
Narine’s return is a huge boost for KKR, considering his impressive performance in the season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he scored 44 off 26 balls and took one wicket ². His availability will also give KKR’s captain Ajinkya Rahane more options to explore, especially in the batting department.
It is understood that he reported ill on the morning of KKR’s last game, which they won in Guwahati against Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Moeen Ali was fielded.
“I’ve been practising well, and I just try to be ready all the time,” Moeen said after the match about his unexpected season debut. “I got told this morning that Sunny [Narine] was not well and to just be ready whenever. Obviously, hard to replace Sunny but I felt like I did a nice job of it.
