Jamshedpur: Police have launched a search operation to arrest those involved in a clash that broke out during Holi celebrations in Giridih district, Jharkhand. Officials provided this update on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday in the Ghorathamba area, where two groups clashed during a Holi procession, leaving several people injured. During the violence, multiple shops and vehicles were set on fire.
Giridih Superintendent of Police, Bimal Kumar, stated, “The situation is completely under control. We are identifying those involved in the clash, and a search is underway for their arrest. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.”
To maintain peace in the area, a heavy police force has been deployed.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand BJP President and Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, blamed the state government for the incident.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, he wrote, “The unfortunate incident of stone-pelting and arson during the Holi procession in Giridih’s Ghorathamba is a direct result of the Hemant Soren government’s appeasement politics and administrative failure.”
Union Minister and Koderma MP, Annapurna Devi, also criticized local authorities, stating that administrative negligence led to the escalation of the situation.
“It is unfortunate that some anti-social elements attempted to disrupt communal harmony during the festival of love and brotherhood,” she remarked.
