Pune: Concerned over the recent surge in criminal activities in Kothrud, senior leaders Chandrakant Patil and Murlidhar Mohol met Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Friday. The meeting focused on the increasing cases of chain snatching, thefts, and street harassment reported from the Kothrud area and its surroundings.
During the discussion, both leaders emphasized the need to strengthen local security measures, increase police patrolling, and expand CCTV surveillance across vulnerable zones. Chandrakant Patil stated, “Kothrud has always been known as a peaceful and educated locality. The recent spike in crime is worrying. Police must take strict action to ensure the safety and confidence of residents.”
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar assured that strict measures will be taken against offenders and instructed officials to intensify ‘beat patrolling’ and nighttime vigilance.
Murlidhar Mohol added that the Pune Municipal Corporation would extend full support to enhance public safety. “We are working towards installing more CCTV cameras across every ward to ensure quick identification and tracking of criminals,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the move and expressed hope that the coordinated efforts of the administration and police would soon bring visible improvement in Kothrud’s law and order situation.
