Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar inaugurated the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at Bistupur, Jamshedpur on Saturday. Speaking at the event, the Governor urged industrialists and entrepreneurs to invest in the field of higher education in Jharkhand.
He acknowledged that while Jharkhand is industrially strong, it still lags behind in the area of higher education. “It is a matter of concern that students from Jharkhand often have to go to other states for higher studies,” he said. Gangwar called upon business leaders to step forward and help transform Jharkhand into a leader in education as well.
The Governor praised the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, describing it as a powerful institution that has played a key role in shaping the industrial history of the state. He said the completion of 75 years marks a milestone that reflects the Chamber’s dedication and spirit.
Speaking about Jamshedpur, Gangwar said the city is not just an industrial hub but also a socially cohesive community. He credited the Tata Group for its contributions in building industries and promoting skill development in the region.
He also highlighted that India has now become the world’s fourth-largest economy and is moving swiftly towards becoming number one. In this journey, institutions like the Chamber of Commerce have a vital role to play, he added.
Gangwar emphasized the state’s rich mineral resources including iron and coal, and how they can be used to further strengthen the state’s economy. He encouraged the Chamber to increase its participation in social sectors, particularly by setting up employment-oriented colleges and institutions.
The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Governor, followed by the felicitation of entrepreneurs who have made notable contributions in the social sector.
