Massive Fire Breaks Out at Amul Milk Warehouse Near NH-33, Heavy Losses Feared

Jamshedpur (July 5): A massive fire broke out early Saturday morning at the Amul milk warehouse located in Simuldanga, near NH-33 under the jurisdiction of MGM Mango police station. The blaze, which started around 7 a.m., is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, leading to widespread panic in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that thick smoke from the fire spread across a 2-kilometer radius, prompting many local residents to rush to the scene. Upon receiving the alert, MGM police arrived and informed the fire department. Multiple fire engines were deployed to control the blaze, and firefighting operations continued until at least 9 a.m.

Social worker Deepak Ranjit stated that the warehouse, spread over approximately one acre of land, is operated under the name “Gujarat Cooperative Milk Distribution Federation Limited.” It reportedly stored a large stock of Amul dairy products, which are feared to be destroyed in the fire.

The fire caused significant alarm in the vicinity, and local volunteers assisted firefighters in their efforts. Preliminary estimates suggest that the damage could run into crores of rupees, as a substantial quantity of stored goods and infrastructure have been affected.

Authorities are now investigating the exact cause of the fire, with technical experts being called in to confirm if it was indeed due to a short circuit. Meanwhile, additional security has been deployed in the area due to the sensitive nature of the incident.

The situation has sparked renewed concerns about fire safety protocols in storage facilities handling perishable goods like dairy products.
