इस्लामाबाद, 1 जुलै: भारत आणि पाकिस्तानने परस्पर ताब्यात असलेल्या कैद्यांची यादी आज देवाणघेवाण केली. पाकिस्तानने इस्लामाबादमधील भारतीय उच्चायुक्त प्रतिनिधीला एकूण 246 भारतीय किंवा भारतीय असल्याचा संशय असलेल्या कैद्यांची यादी दिली, ज्यामध्ये 53 सामान्य नागरिक आणि 193 मच्छिमारांचा समावेश आहे.
विदेश मंत्रालयाच्या निवेदनानुसार, 2008 मधील “कॉन्स्युलर ऍक्सेस करार”नुसार, दोन्ही देशांनी दरवर्षी 1 जानेवारी आणि 1 जुलै रोजी एकमेकांच्या ताब्यात असलेल्या कैद्यांची यादी शेअर करणे आवश्यक असते.
या कराराच्या अनुषंगाने, पाकिस्तानने भारतीय उच्चायोगाच्या प्रतिनिधीकडे ही यादी सुपूर्द केली. ही नियमित प्रक्रिया असून त्याचा उद्देश परस्पर विश्वास आणि पारदर्शकतेला चालना देणे आहे.
भारत सरकारनेही पाकिस्तानमधील भारतीय नागरिकांच्या स्थितीवर लक्ष ठेवले असून, आवश्यक तेवढे कायदेशीर व मानवीय सहाय्य देण्याचे प्रयत्न सुरू आहेत. दोन्ही देशांत दीर्घकाळपासून परस्पर सीमाभागातील जलविवाद व मच्छिमारांच्या अटकसत्रामुळे अशा प्रकारच्या अडचणी वारंवार उद्भवत असतात.
मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ते आणि सामाजिक संघटनांनी अशा कैद्यांच्या लवकर सुटकेसाठी दोन्ही सरकारांकडून सहकार्य वाढवण्याची मागणी केली आहे.
