Director Ahmed Khan, who is gearing up for the release of Welcome to the Jungle, opened up about working with the iconic trio — Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Known for their legendary chemistry in the Hera Pheri franchise, the three actors bring the same natural rhythm and comic precision to the new film as well.
‘Their timing is unbeatable’
According to Ahmed Khan, the biggest advantage on set was how effortlessly the trio reacts to each other.
He said their timing is “so perfect that even unrehearsed scenes feel rehearsed.”
The synergy between them, he added, comes from years of working together and a deep understanding of each other’s style of humour.
But the challenge? Getting them out of Hera Pheri mode
Ahmed Khan admitted that while their rapport is a blessing, the team sometimes had to remind the actors not to slip into the familiar behaviour of their Hera Pheri characters — Raju, Shyam and Baburao.
He joked that the characters are so iconic that even the slightest gesture can unintentionally resemble the earlier franchise.
“To create something fresh, we had to ensure they stayed rooted in the Welcome universe,” he said.
A massive ensemble, big expectations
Welcome to the Jungle features one of the biggest comedy casts in recent years.
Ahmed Khan said that balancing screen time, maintaining pace, and ensuring originality were the main creative challenges.
However, he believes the trio’s energy sets the tone for the film:
“They bring commitment, discipline and a level of comfort that lifts the entire set.”
Fans excited for the comeback
With Akshay, Suniel and Paresh returning to a comedy setup together, expectations are high. Many fans hope to see the magic of their past collaborations — but in a completely new format.
