‘Homebound’ DOP Pratik Shah Faces Misconduct Allegations; Dharma Productions Distances Itself

Mumbai, : Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on Vikramaditya Motwane’s acclaimed series Jubilee and more recently on Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, has been accused of inappropriate behaviour, sparking a growing controversy in the film industry.

The allegations against Shah surfaced on social media two days ago, prompting swift reactions from both the public and film fraternity. Following the accusations, Shah reportedly deleted his Instagram account and has remained unreachable for comment.

In the wake of the controversy, Dharma Productions, the production house behind Homebound, issued a statement distancing itself from the cinematographer. The banner, headed by filmmaker Karan Johar, clarified that Shah was hired purely on a freelance basis and was involved with the project only for a short duration.

“He was not a full-time employee or an ongoing collaborator. We take such matters seriously and hope the truth emerges in due course,” the production house stated.

The allegations have reignited conversations within the Indian entertainment industry about workplace conduct, the responsibilities of production houses, and the need for stronger mechanisms to address harassment and misconduct.

While no official complaint has been filed yet, the industry is closely watching how the situation unfolds. Shah’s absence from public platforms and lack of response have only added to the scrutiny.

As the controversy continues, calls for accountability and transparency are growing louder, with many urging film bodies and associations to take proactive steps in ensuring safer work environments across the board.
