.Axar Patel, the seasoned Indian all-rounder, has been appointed as the captain of the Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Patel, who joined the franchise in 2019, has been a pivotal player for the team, amassing 967 runs and securing 62 wickets with an economy rate of 7.09 over 82 matches.
This leadership change comes in the wake of former captain Rishabh Pant’s transfer to the Lucknow Super Giants. Expressing his gratitude, Patel stated, “It is my absolute honour to captain the Delhi Capitals, and I’m deeply grateful to our owners and support staff for placing their faith in me.”
Under Patel’s leadership, the Delhi Capitals aim to clinch their maiden IPL title. The team’s campaign is set to commence on March 24 in Visakhapatnam against the Lucknow Super Giants.
