Three young men from Chikhali, Pune, drowned in the Indrayani River near Kinhai village on Friday evening, following Holi celebrations. The victims were identified as Raj Aghame (25), Akash Gorde (24), and Gautam Kamble (24). The incident occurred when one of the friends began to struggle in the water; the other three attempted a rescue, but tragically, only one managed to swim to safety. Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local organizations, recovered the bodies, which were sent to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital for further procedures.
In a separate incident on the same day, four children drowned in the Ulhas River in Thane district after entering the river to wash off Holi colors. These tragedies highlight the importance of exercising caution when engaging in water-related activities, especially during festive occasions.
