These rules are in effect from now until August 31, 2025.Here are the key highlights of the orders issued by District Collector Jitendra Dudi under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023:No entry at dangerous or restricted zones such as cliffs, waterfalls, and fast-flowing streams.Strict ban on alcohol consumption at tourist locations, especially near naturalWith monsoon tourism set to peak in the coming months, Pune district administration has imposed prohibitory orders across major tourist destinations to ensure visitors’ safety. The restrictions, effective until August 31, cover popular spots in Lonavala and Maval taluka areas. waterProhibition on group picnics and gatherings at sensitive sites during heavy rain alerts.Ban on trekking activities at certain forts and hilly areas during red and orange weather alerts issued by IMD.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi, who also chairs the District Disaster Management Authority, issued the orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, which are essential for tourists’ safety and maintaining law and order during monsoon tourism.
The restrictions apply to destinations including Ekvira Devi temple, Karla and Bhaje caves, Bhaje waterfall, forts like Lohgad, Visapur, and Tikona, along with scenic viewpoints such as Tiger Point, Lions Point, and Shivling Point. Pawana Dam and other destinations also fall under those guidelines.Mandatory cooperation with officials: Tourists must follow instructions issued by the local administration or risk fines or legal action.Monitoring via drones and CCTV in popular tourist areas for crowd control and rescue readiness.
