PrimeNarendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of burdening people with an additional cement tax even after the Centre reduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates.
Addressing a gathering, PM Modi said the Congress regime in the hill state was “anti-people” and “anti-development,” as it chose to impose new levies despite the Union government’s relief measures aimed at lowering construction costs.
The Prime Minister alleged that while the Centre is committed to bringing down prices and supporting citizens, the Himachal Congress government is doing the opposite by adding more financial pressure on households and the construction sector.
The issue has sparked a fresh round of political sparring, with the BJP positioning itself as the defender of public interest ahead of key electoral battles, while the state Congress is expected to respond to the charges.
