Mumbai Indians clinched their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title by defeating Delhi Capitals by eight runs in a thrilling final at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 15, 2025.
Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 149 for 7 in their 20 overs, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur playing a pivotal role by scoring 66 runs off 44 balls.
In response, Delhi Capitals managed to score 141 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Mumbai’s bowlers, led by Natalie Sciver-Brunt who took 3 wickets for 30 runs, effectively restricted Delhi’s batting lineup.
This victory marks Mumbai Indians’ second WPL title in three seasons, reinforcing their status as one of the most successful franchises in the league’s history.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals faced disappointment as they suffered their third consecutive loss in a WPL final. Head coach Jonathan Batty reflected on the defeat, suggesting that the magnitude of the occasion might have impacted the players’ performance.
