Rajgad, Maharashtra — In a powerful blend of legacy, wellness and visionary development, Maharashtra’s PWD Minister and direct descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Hon. Shivendraraje Bhosale, was presented with a transformative proposal at the historic site of Rajgad.

The plan outlines a unique medical wellness and naturopathy centre, a bold step toward health, heritage, and humanity.

Rajgad, once the capital of the great Maratha empire and closely associated with Shivaji Maharaj’s rule, now finds itself again in the spotlight—this time for sustainable development and heritage tourism.

Hon. Shivendraraje Bhosale, himself deeply connected to Maratha history by bloodline and spirit, received the proposal with heartfelt appreciation and praised its intention to serve the community in meaningful ways. While he had been closely aware of the initiative through his deep-rooted connection to the region’s legacy, he was formally briefed on the details in light of his role in public development. Appreciating the project’s community-centered vision, he stated, ‘This is more than a wellness project — it’s a return to our cultural roots.”

Rajgad, once the cradle of Swarajya, is now ready to become a cradle of Swasthya (wellness).

Set against the panoramic beauty of Rajgad — a UNESCO-recognized heritage site, the proposed hub was unveiled in the presence of local leaders, historians, and wellness delegates. It outlines a comprehensive plan to create a holistic health destination offering natural therapy centres, ayurvedic treatments, panchakarma, yoga spaces, mental wellness programs, and eco-sensitive infrastructure — all designed to promote inner peace and preventive care.

Thoughtfully designed to be accessible to all, the centre is envisioned not only as a healing retreat but also as a refuge for individuals seeking post-retirement tranquillity — reconnecting with nature and self. Nestled within the sacred hills of Rajgad, the initiative is a mindful step toward restorative living for all generations.

The project is being spearheaded by Dr. Sunil Thigle, a dedicated social worker and wellness advocate, in collaboration with Passiflora Properties. Together, they aim to revive India’s time-honoured healing traditions through a centre that balances tradition, science, and community impact. The goal is clear and profound — to shape Rajgad into a serene sanctuary where ancient healing wisdom comes alive through holistic living, inner peace, and preventive healthcare, blending tradition with thoughtful progress.

At a time when modern hospitals increasingly face criticism for commercialization — underscored by recent tragedies like the Deenanath Hospital incident — this initiative offers a compassionate and holistic alternative.

The proposed centre will not only promote health but also create job opportunities for locals, boost eco-tourism, and preserve the historical charm of Rajgad. The area’s natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and royal legacy makes it the perfect location for a wellness retreat that honours both people and the royal place.

Local leaders, social thinkers, and citizens have welcomed the initiative, appreciating that Hon. Shivendraraje Bhosale, a respected figure deeply connected to the region’s legacy, has now been officially apprised of the proposal. His awareness and thoughtful acknowledgement of the vision reflect a vital message — that true leadership lies in honouring heritage while nurturing public well-being.

This is not merely a development project — it is a movement toward mindful living. With compassionate leadership and community vision, Maharashtra is once again setting a golden example for the nation.
