Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday emphasized that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remains a crucial pillar of India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision, during his address at the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-Plus).
Highlighting India’s commitment to regional cooperation, Singh stated that strong ties with ASEAN are essential for maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. He underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in combating security challenges such as maritime security threats, terrorism, and cyber risks.
ASEAN is central to India’s Act East Policy. Our partnership is based on shared values, mutual trust, and respect for international rules,” the Defence Minister said.
Singh added that India will continue to support ASEAN-led mechanisms and work towards strengthening defence partnerships, capacity building, and humanitarian assistance initiatives.
The ADMM-Plus brings together defence ministers from ASEAN nations and key dialogue partners to enhance regional security cooperation.
