Varun Chakravarthy, the Indian mystery spinner, recently spoke about his interest in Test cricket but admitted that his bowling style is not suited for the longer format. While he enjoys the traditional form of the game, he acknowledges that his variations and wrist-spin technique are more effective in shorter formats like T20s and ODIs. Given the physical demands and consistency required in Test cricket, he believes that his bowling, which relies heavily on mystery and deception, may not be as effective over long spells.
Chakravarthy has been a key performer in the IPL, particularly for Kolkata Knight Riders, and has also represented India in limited-overs cricket. Despite his admiration for Test cricket, it seems he is more focused on excelling in white-ball formats where his skill set is best utilized.
