Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Varanasi, further expanding India’s high-speed rail network. The launch marks another milestone in the government’s mission to provide faster, safer, and more comfortable rail travel for passengers across the country.
The newly introduced Vande Bharat trains will enhance connectivity between key cities and regional hubs, reducing travel time significantly. According to Indian Railways officials, the new routes are designed to improve intercity travel and strengthen economic and cultural links between regions.
New Vande Bharat Routes
1. Varanasi – Lucknow – Delhi
This route connects the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi, with the national capital via Lucknow, improving travel efficiency for pilgrims, tourists, and business travelers alike.
2. Patna – Ranchi
The train will provide a faster connection between Bihar and Jharkhand, cutting travel time between the two state capitals by several hours.
3. Indore – Jaipur
Aimed at boosting tourism and trade, this route will link Madhya Pradesh’s commercial hub with Rajasthan’s Pink City.
4. Tirupati – Chennai
The southern route connects the pilgrimage city of Tirupati with Chennai, offering a swift and comfortable journey for devotees and regular commuters.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Modi said the new trains symbolize “India’s growing strength in infrastructure and self-reliance,” adding that the Vande Bharat Express has become “the pride of Indian Railways.”
The new services are equipped with advanced safety features, modern interiors, and improved passenger comfort. With these additions, the total number of operational Vande Bharat trains across India has now crossed fifty, covering almost every region of the country.
Officials confirmed that regular operations on the new routes will begin soon after the inaugural runs, with ticket bookings available through the IRCTC website and railway stations
