China to Host South Asia Expo from June 19 in Kunming

BEIJING (June 8) — Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province, is set to host the 9th China-South Asia Expo from June 19 to 24, 2025. The event, a major platform for regional cooperation and economic exchange, will see strong participation from India and Pakistan, who will have the largest delegations at the event.

The expo will span 11 themed halls, each dedicated to key growth sectors such as advanced manufacturing, clean energy, modern agriculture, digital economy, and cross-border trade. This year’s focus is on enhancing connectivity and deepening trade ties between China and South Asian countries through sustainable and innovative partnerships.

India’s significant presence reflects the growing interest in boosting exports and collaboration in technology, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. Similarly, Pakistan will showcase its textile, food processing, and engineering goods. Other South Asian countries, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, will also send trade representatives and exhibitors.

Since its inception, the China-South Asia Expo has been instrumental in facilitating business deals and investment flows between China and its southern neighbors. The event attracts not only regional players but also global traders, investors, and policymakers keen on tapping into South Asia’s fast-growing markets.

Organizers say this edition aims to promote multilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and foster regional stability through economic development. With increasing geopolitical challenges, such platforms are seen as vital in keeping dialogue open and economies connected.

As global attention shifts towards Asia’s economic dynamism, Kunming’s expo stands out as a bridge linking China and South Asia in trade, innovation, and mutual growth.
