Congress vs BJP: India’s Two Major Political Parties – Who Holds More Influence?

Congress and BJP are India’s two leading political parties, engaged in a long-standing rivalry. Both have distinct political ideologies, governance styles, and voter bases. Public preference largely depends on their policies, leadership, and governance track record.

The Congress Party has deep roots in India’s freedom struggle and is the country’s oldest political party. Post-independence, Congress played a key role in shaping India’s policies, introducing initiatives like the Green Revolution, industrialization, and educational reforms. However, in recent years, the party has seen a decline, facing internal challenges and corruption allegations. Despite this, Congress continues to advocate for secularism, social justice, and welfare policies for the underprivileged.

BJP emerged as a major force in the 1990s and has been in power since 2014. The party emphasizes Hindutva, nationalism, and economic growth. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, BJP has introduced significant initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Make in India, Digital India, and the Jan Dhan Yojana. The party claims to have curbed corruption and strengthened economic reforms while taking a tough stance against Naxalism and terrorism.

Both Congress and BJP compete for public support by highlighting their achievements. While BJP focuses on development and national security, Congress emphasizes welfare policies and social justice. Ultimately, voters choose based on which party they believe will bring betterment to their lives.
