Jaishankar Concludes France Visit, Appreciates French Support in Fight Against Terrorism

Paris, June 14 – External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar concluded his four-day official visit to France on Saturday, emphasizing India’s appreciation for France’s strong and consistent support in the global fight against terrorism.

During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar held high-level meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot. The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between India and France across a range of sectors, including defense, energy, space, and counter-terrorism.

At the conclusion of the visit, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for France’s firm stance against terrorism and its alignment with India’s position on the need for zero tolerance towards such threats. “I deeply appreciate France’s unwavering support in our collective fight against terrorism. Our cooperation is based on shared values and mutual trust,” Jaishankar stated.

The visit also saw significant discussions on Indo-Pacific security, global geopolitical challenges, and the need for reform in multilateral institutions. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Dr. Jaishankar also engaged with members of the Indian diaspora in France, acknowledging their contributions in strengthening India-France relations and promoting India’s image globally.

This visit comes at a time when India and France are celebrating 25 years of their strategic partnership. The leaders agreed to work closely on various initiatives under the India-France Roadmap for the Horizon 2047.

Jaishankar’s visit underlined the deepening ties between the two nations and set the stage for further bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.
