On the occasion of Father’s Day, actress Rakul Preet Singh opened up about the profound impact her father, a former Indian Army officer, has had on her life. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Rakul shared how growing up in a disciplined, army household shaped her emotionally and mentally.
She added that her father always encouraged her to chase her dreams but stay grounded — values that continue to guide her in the entertainment industry. Rakul also shared fond memories of growing up in various army cantonments and the values of punctuality, discipline, and patriotism instilled in her from a young age.
Today, on the occasion of Father’s Day, she looks back on her formative years with fondness, even though her father would have to be away at a stretch sometimes for duty, “I grew up in the cantonment, so everyone you know is an Army kid. You think that’s a way of life, you don’t know any better as a kid. Everyone’s father is visiting for a month or a weekend. There would be field postings and peace postings. You become so strong emotionally,” she shares.
My father’s unwavering dedication to the nation and his calm strength taught me resilience,” Rakul said. “Seeing him serve selflessly and face every situation with courage made me emotionally strong.”
As a tribute, she thanked her father for being her “first hero” and shaping the person she is today.
