The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important advisory to all affiliated schools, cautioning them about the circulation of fake NCERT textbooks in the market. The board stated that several reports have emerged regarding counterfeit books being sold to students, which may contain incorrect information, poor printing quality, and misleading content.
In its advisory, CBSE has instructed schools to:
Procure NCERT books only through authorised distributors or official channels.
Verify the authenticity of textbooks by checking NCERT’s official features such as holograms, QR codes, and standardized printing details.
Inform parents and students about the growing availability of counterfeit books and guide them on how to identify genuine copies.
Report any instance of fake books to CBSE or NCERT immediately for further action.
The board emphasized that using counterfeit textbooks can adversely affect students’ learning due to inaccuracies in the content. Schools have been urged to remain vigilant and ensure that only legitimate and approved NCERT textbooks are used for academic purposes.
This advisory comes at a time when the academic session is underway, making awareness crucial for both schools and parents. CBSE has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of educational resources provided to students.
