NEET PG 2025 Counselling: Supreme Court Directs NBE to Reveal Answer Key Policy; Round 1 Choice Filling Put on Hold Indefinitely

The Supreme Court on Friday directed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to disclose its policy regarding the release of answer keys for the NEET PG 2025 examination, emphasizing transparency in the evaluation process.

The directive came while the apex court was hearing a batch of petitions raising concerns over various aspects of the NEET-PG exam, particularly the non-disclosure of answer keys. Petitioners argued that withholding the answer key undermines the transparency and fairness expected in a national-level competitive examination.

The bench, led by Justice B.R. Gavai, questioned the NBE on why the answer key and response sheets were not being made available to candidates, as is standard practice in other national examinations such as NEET-UG and JEE. The court observed that “transparency is the foundation of public trust” and sought a detailed explanation from the NBE regarding its existing policy.

In light of the ongoing proceedings, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has decided to extend the Round 1 choice filling process indefinitely, pending further directions from the Supreme Court.

The next hearing is expected to clarify whether the NBE will be mandated to release the answer keys and candidate response sheets for NEET PG 2025.

This development comes amid growing frustration among medical aspirants, who have been urging authorities for more openness and accountability in the NEET PG examination and counselling process.

Further updates on the Supreme Court’s directions and the revised NEET PG counselling schedule are awaited.
