Pune: Discontent among residents has reached a boiling point as citizens staged a protest against the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), citing mismanagement and delays in crucial redevelopment projects.
Residents claimed that MHADA’s negligence has left several housing societies in unsafe and deteriorating conditions, forcing families to live under constant risk. Protesters demanded that immediate action be taken to speed up stalled redevelopment work and provide clarity on pending approvals.
“Years of waiting have passed with no progress. Our buildings are unsafe, and yet MHADA continues to delay decisions. We cannot risk our lives any longer,” said one protesting resident.
The demonstration highlighted the urgent need for transparency and accountability within MHADA’s operations. Citizens also urged the state government to intervene and ensure timely completion of redevelopment projects, which they say are essential for their safety and dignity.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response to the protest.
