New Delhi (19 July): The Indian box office earned ₹5,723 crore in the first six months of 2025, reflecting a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. This information comes from the Ormax Media report released on Saturday titled “India Box Office Report: Jan-Jun 2025.”
According to the report, 17 films crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the Indian box office between January and June 2025, compared to only 10 films during the same period in 2024. This marks a positive trend for the industry, indicating that films are now earning more than before.
The report also noted that the total box office collection for this period reached ₹5,723 crore — 14% higher than in 2024. However, it is still ₹12 crore less than the record set in the first half of 2022, which was ₹5,735 crore.
Key reasons behind this growth include the rising popularity of films, audience interest in movies across diverse genres and languages, and a stronger turnout at theaters. According to the report, hit films like “Chhaava” contributed significantly to the box office and emerged as one of the biggest successes of the first half of 2025.
In conclusion, these figures offer a ray of hope for Indian cinema, as the film industry is once again achieving large-scale success — and more box office records could be broken in the coming months.
