Amit Shah Inaugurates New Central Forensic Science Laboratory Near Kolkata

Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) at Rajarhat, near Kolkata. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly enhance the country’s forensic investigation capabilities, especially in the eastern region.

The CFSL, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, plays a crucial role in supporting criminal investigations through scientific analysis and forensic evidence. The new campus in Rajarhat is equipped with modern technology and advanced infrastructure to aid in solving complex criminal cases.

As part of his two-day visit to West Bengal, Shah is also scheduled to meet with senior BJP leaders and party workers during a convention at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata later today. The closed-door strategy meeting is seen as a key step in preparing the party’s organizational plans ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

According to party sources, the discussions will revolve around strengthening the BJP’s grassroots presence, addressing region-specific concerns, and evaluating the party’s performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

During his visit, Amit Shah is also likely to review law and order issues in the state, especially in the context of political violence and criminal investigations. The inauguration of the CFSL is being seen not only as a step to boost forensic capabilities but also as a strategic move to highlight the Centre’s commitment to development and governance in West Bengal.

The Home Minister’s visit comes at a politically significant time and is expected to energize the BJP cadre as they gear up for the upcoming electoral challenges in the state.
