Following the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, numerous overseas players have departed India. The suspension was prompted by security concerns, including air raid alerts in regions like Jammu and Pathankot, which led to the abandonment of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala.
With the tournament suspended, the players and support staff from various franchises have begun returning to their home-towns, while several foreign players are home-bound.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prioritized the safe exit of foreign players, coaching staff, and commentators, coordinating their evacuation amid the crisis. Franchises such as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) confirmed that several of their international players left the country on Saturday.
Despite the departures, the BCCI is preparing to resume the tournament following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. Matches are expected to recommence by Thursday or Friday, with games held across India, excluding Dharamsala. Franchises are actively communicating with overseas players to facilitate their return for the resumption of the league.
