Two New Flyovers in Ranchi Set to Open Soon: Construction Nears Completion

Ranchi residents will soon experience a significant relief from traffic congestion, as the city prepares to inaugurate two major flyovers. The construction of both flyovers is in its final stages, with one nearly ready to open and the other requiring only minor finishing work.

The Ratu Road Flyover is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) involved in the project confirmed that the flyover will be opened for public use in May. With an estimated cost of ₹450 crore, this flyover promises to significantly ease the heavy traffic flow on Ratu Road, a busy and vital stretch in the city.

Meanwhile, the Sirmatoli-Mekan Flyover is also nearing completion, though a few final tasks remain. The main hurdle currently is the construction of a ramp towards the ITI side, where a 500-meter service lane still needs to be built. Additionally, about two meters of service road work is pending around Raj Bhavan and Metro Gali. Authorities have assured that these remaining tasks will be completed soon. Signage installation is also pending, which will be undertaken before the final handover.

Once completed, the Sirmatoli-Mekan flyover will offer a much smoother commuting experience, with traffic expected to flow seamlessly above the previously congested intersections.

The introduction of these two flyovers is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in key parts of Ranchi. The Ratu Road area, in particular, has long been plagued by bottlenecks, especially during peak hours. With the new flyover in place, thousands of daily commuters will be able to save time and fuel, and enjoy a more comfortable driving experience.

The Sirmatoli-Mekan flyover, once completed, will serve as a vital link between several densely populated areas, helping streamline vehicle movement in and out of central Ranchi. As the finishing touches are being added, city officials are now focusing on ensuring a smooth and well-organized inauguration. Sources indicate that preparations for the formal opening ceremony are already underway, and local authorities are coordinating with relevant departments to ensure all infrastructure is in place by the time of launch.

The NHAI engineer overseeing the Ratu Road project expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating that quality standards have been strictly maintained throughout the construction process. He emphasized that once operational, the flyover will greatly benefit the public, both in terms of convenience and road safety.

These infrastructure developments are part of Ranchi’s broader urban transformation strategy. As the capital city continues to grow, such projects reflect a proactive approach to address traffic management challenges and improve civic life.

With these two flyovers soon to be functional, Ranchi is poised to take a big leap forward in easing urban mobility and setting the stage for future development.
