Panaji (Goa): Legendary Indian actor Rajinikanth will be felicitated at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced on Friday. The superstar will receive the prestigious “Cinematic Icon Award” for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and his influence across generations.
The 55th edition of IFFI will be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa, featuring filmmakers, directors, and artists from around the world. Rajinikanth’s honour is expected to be one of the festival’s grand highlights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Anurag Thakur congratulated the veteran actor, describing him as a symbol of “India’s cultural vibrancy and cinematic excellence.”
Rajinikanth, whose stellar performances in films like Sivaji, Enthiran (Robot), Jailer, and Kabali have left a lasting mark on Indian cinema, will also share insights from his remarkable journey during the festival.
The IFFI organising committee stated that this year’s edition will showcase over 200 films from more than 70 countries, with a strong focus on regional Indian cinema.
With this recognition, Rajinikanth once again reaffirms his status not just as a Tamil superstar, but as the true “Thalaiva” of Indian cinema.
